Hot Water

I have read to keep the humidity up you can put a big bowl of water under your heat lamp. When I do this the water gets hot. really hot. What do I do? Is it ok to have hot water in there or should I put it on the cool side?

i think that if the water gets too hot, than the cage itself is too hot

Yeah, sounds like if the water is getting hot that maybe your temps are too hot. What are the surface/belly temps? Where are you measuring? What kind of thermometer are you using (digital w/ probes, analog stick on, etc)?

One of the reasons for the water dish is for your snake to cool off if need be (or to drink, soak, etc) - so if you're using a dish on the warm side for humidity that gets warm, I'd also put one on the cool side for drinking, soaking, etc.

Are you relying on a heat lamp to provide your warm side temps? Your primary source of heat should be a heating pad - you can then supplement with overhead heat. Lamps dry the air up and mess with humidity.

Ok, my temps are right but with infared lights, the light actually heats things up. The infared light heats things up. Thats why the water gets so hot. My temps are 90-93 on the hot side and 76-80 on the cool side. But when you put the water right under the light it heats up. I primary source for heat on the hot side is a UTH and the light goes right in the middle to keeep the over all temps just right. I decided to move the water to the cool side and just spray the tank a few times a day.

If you have a glass tank with a screen top - just cover with damp towels and/or duct tape (on the top outside of the screen lid).

I have a vision cage, what can I do? My humdity has been coming down and now it's about 50-55%. Short of spraying, how can I keep the % up?

Right now I am using bark, it holds moisture well but I was thinking about moving to newpaper. (easier to use)

I would think moving to newspaper would make your problems with humidity worse. I've heard great things about Bed-a-Beast helping with humidiyt, and you can feed on it.
