How to clean in the future

Came home today after a long, exhausting day at work to find out that my boy left me a big ol pile of poop. 😩 Of course it happens the one day I didn't check his tank (yesterday) or today before I went to check and it was quite a shocker. To play it safe due to size and not knowing how long it had been there I deep cleaned the tank, hides, and water dish although I had done that a week or so ago. A part of me really wanted to just spot check and replace with new bedding but didn't know if that's safe so I figured I would ask here.

In the future would it be alright to spot clean or would it be better to deep clean everything. I also didn't know if it was good to clean so often. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 😁

Spot cleaning is fine. I clean with f-10 every 2-3 weeks and I know many who fully clean only once a month

Thanks. I want to pick up some f10 but I don't know how much to dilute it. I've gotten mixed answers on the amount. Also, from my understanding you can spray it on stuff and it's fine?

dont just spray disinfectant on stuff.

use it more like you would soap. which means, some initial cleaning if required, then use the disinfectant, then wash with clean water, let it dry / wipe it dry, done. the disinfectant / cleaning product shouldnt just stay in there. when its safe to stay in there, even better, you dont need to worry about small amounts that are left once you used clean water on it.

Well I wasn't planning on spraying directly on things but after reading that people will spot clean with it I was thrown off. Kind of hard to spray something next to aspen and not risk it getting on the aspen.

How strong to mix it depends on what application it's being used for, e.g. regular cleaning versus cleaning the enclosure of a snake with an RI versus disinfecting a used enclosure you purchased secondhand and plan to use for your animals. There's a good explanation of how to mix the product for each purpose on the Reptile Basics web site.

Once dry it's safe, so you can lightly mist the enclosure and wait for it to dry, or you can spray it on, wipe most off, and wait for the residue to dry.
