Albino ball python?
Hey guys~n~gals I am looking at getting an albino ball python soon. I have wanted one since the day I saw one, and they are now down enough in price that I can afford one. I am sure their husbandry is the same as any other ball python, but one thing I wondered about is if they are more sensitive to light. Anyone know, or have any thoughts about it? Thanks

Whoa, I didn't know that!
None of my BPs have UV, but would it be problematic to have a 12'' standard white (10k spectrum) LED strip above mine during the day? It's in an AP T8 cage.
It's fortuitious that I saw this, because I was going to set up my lavender albino in a cage with said light strip this weekend.

dark pigment absorbs UV light.
its the same with humans, really. sunburn, skin cancer, and so on. the amount of pigment determines how much UV you can take before your skin burns up. so a cinnamon can take a lot of UV light and albinos are much more sensitive to it. but BPs, dark or not, dont need any UV light anyway.
white LEDs will be just fine, they dont produce UV light at all. white LEDs produce blue light, and they contain special phosphors that turn blue into orange, blue into green, blue into yellow. and then you get a mix of colors that looks white. blue light does not have enough energy per photon to damage the skin, for that you need UV, and white LEDs dont deliver it. phosphors can only be used to convert energy rich photons into photons of lower energy levels. so the right phosphor will glow green or red or yellow under blue light, but it never works the other way around.
UV light can cause damage because each individual photon has enough power to knock an electron out of its place, which can destroy a molecule, even DNA. thats the photoelectric effect, Einstein got the nobel price for figuring it out, solar panels make use of the same effect that causes skin cancer ^^. its also what makes x-rays and gamma rays so damn dangerous, these photons dont just knock an electron out of place, they blast it out of place.

This may sound silly but I actually assumed it'd be their eyes that would be damaged rather than the skin. But I guess human albinos avoid the sun for the same reason...
