Orange/Pink Belly?????
Hi everyone. I am new to breeding ball pythons. I am learning everything about this great hobby in this forum, so thanks in advance for all your help.
The reason i decided to write post is because something is happening to one of my females that I was not expecting. She is a very nice and sweet pinstripe from 2012. She is 1550 gr currently. I have seen her locking with my Pastel-Yellowbelly "Tigger". She shed two weeks ago, she is refusing to eat anything, (a month ago was eating like crazy) and her belly turned orang/pink color right away after her last shed. I am not sure if she has ovulated. She is very active, like excited, and does not behave like she is sick.
Have you ever had a snake with an orange/pink belly? Is this part of the breeding process?

That looks to evenly pink/red to be a burn imo. Just a sign that the animal will shed shortly.

I know that generally this means the snake is getting ready to shed. But she got this color the day after shedding. That is what surprises me.

My snake JUST did this, and it's weird as heck.
He turned pink, went opaqued, cleared up, shed IN MY HANDS, and now his whole belly is this kind of pale pink. I don't know what the deal is. The UTH is on a thermostat that's working. There's nothing damp in the cage. There are no mites. He's just *pink* - and I've seen him immediately after shed before and he definitely had a white belly then. He is definitely a he, so it's not ovulation. He's also eating super well.
So, I'm at a loss with you, and stalking this thread.

Re: Orange/Pink Belly?????
I've personally never seen it, but heard newsprint can sometimes stain them. What are your temps and how are you regulating/monitoring them? The color of that looks burn to me, (but I have never seen a burn in person either). Especially if it happened right after a shed, that eliminates pink shed belly. Better pics in natural light would be better too.

If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

One of my male pastels and my male pin both do this right after a shed, for maybe a day or two.
Don't know why but the first time it freaked me out too.

Just updating here, since the above post made me go dig Atlas out to have another look at his belly.
It's back to white. I don't know exactly how long that pink stuck around on my guy, but it was at most a day, probably a bit less. Still don't know what it was HERE, but obviously it wasn't a huge deal.
