O.K we all know that having your humidity to high or to low can cause certain sicknesses in our BPs. Now when it comes to shed time we crank the humidity way up ( 70-75 ) for the days that they are in shed, sometimes close to a week. Yes it produces a nice clean shed, but are these high temps causing harm to the snake, ( R.Is/ Belly rot ) I was just wondering this as I was misting down my girls tank, it's a bit to think about, it made me scratch my head....looking for answears, Thanks!

If you mean the elvated humidity it should cause no harm for a short duration. If you are using a substrate more prone of mold/mildew from high humidty (aspen etc) it bears close watching or a preemptive swap for drier stuff once the higher humidty reverts. Belly rot takes some persistent and atrocious conditions to get a good foothold - if you are practicing good husbandry and keeping your eyes peeled you should be fine. What substrate are you using btw?

Smulkin: I"m using repti bark for now. I don't keep it soaking wet but you can see the moisture around the edges. After shed I do get rid of the wet bark.

I used Reptibark also. This was when I was younger, I was told by a pet store to spray my tank down all of the time. So I did. I was told by the local pet store, big mistake. Anyway my two Bp I had in the same tank both developed belly rot. There was nothing the vet could do. It was only a matter of a few days since the alst time I had handled them. I was the worst thing I had ever seen and looked painful.
