After 3 LOOONG years we finally get an axanthic!

Weve been trying to prove out (well more hubby than me lol) a pair of het joliff axanthics for the last three years, and we were just about to give up this year and sell them as normal, as the previous years have proved fruitless. We actually paired the het mama to my ivory male to rule out the female being infertile. Well, about two months ago we were ecstatic she laid a clutch of eggs! We got a total of six, but lost one. They started to pip two days ago. We cut the them all, and they all appeared to be normal...except the last HUGE egg.... We got this lil (big) guy....

My hubby was sooooo stoked that he finally got the axanthic and proved out the parents. Years ago, when he was new to ball pythons and purchased the pair originally, he had no idea there was a difference between VPI and Joliff line axanthics. He later found out that Joliffs were not nearly as nice. Oh well. The baby is huge, and I thought for quite awhile the egg would yield twins, as it was twice as big as the other eggs. I wouldn't be too surprised if he came outta the egg weighing close to 100 grams. Not sure if we're gonna keep this lil guy/gal, as we're undecided right now....considering we got a female VPI axanthic already. Itll be hubby's decision. But the parents are definitely going lol.

Thank you! Yes, that's one thing that Brian always says that you must have if you're going to be a successful snake breeder.....PERSISTANCE.

    Congratulations on proving them out!

We made an unexpected purchase several months ago, a 2013 female jolliff axanthic. Although we have heard that VPI axanthics hold their color better I personally still don't think that the one we purchased is bad.

I took these photos a couple days ago.

Also here is a photo of the mom and the clutch mates that the breeder took.

I think her mom held her color nicely. We will be hanging on to the girl to see how she ages. So far I am really impressed with her.

We do plan on adding VPI to the collection as well and working with both lines. Maybe let yours shed a few times before deciding

I was able to sneak some wifi signal at my grandmother's and I replying. I believe it been more than 3 years I have to look for my het papers when I get home. I started trying to breed them before I met my wife. and we going on 4 years knowing each other. But this was the first clutch that mom laid for me.
I do wonder if it cause she was actually cooled before breeding this season. I never done so with any of my snakes before and I got clutches with no problem. I do think I will keep the little axanthic until it sheds about 2-3 times and then go from there. I may attempt to make a triple gene later on if I keep the ax. If I do it will become andrie ( spelling) for the wrestler andrie the giant lol. )
