    Time between breeding

How long should I wait after a clutch before I can or should start breeding her again?

I always wondered about the people that breed year round. When do you pair a female who laid outside of the actual "season"? Is it a year after she laid and gained her weight back?

    Re: Time between breeding

Year round means that you have girls go once a year and lay at different times throughout that year.
For example I have a pastel who lays in October and a normal who lays in March.
    Pastel:
Pairing starts in July/August and she lays in October
Two years on then one year off.
    To give her a break.
    Normal:
Pairing begins in December/January and she lays in March.

    Re: Time between breeding

Once follicles are as big as a quarter you can start pairing and get some hopefully successful locks. Some people pair all year long and others only pair for a few months when follicles are starting to mature and get large enough to easily palpate. I used to pair all year long because I wasn't very good at detecting follicles. But now, I only pair them up when the follicles are as big or bigger than a quarter. I've noticed my male is a harder "worker" and doesn't get worn out trying to copulate with a girl who isn't quite ready for him.

I breed my girls year round and my general rule of thumb is I start pairing again 8 months after her ovulation. 8 months seems to give her more than enough time to lay, recover, and gain back her weight plus some.
