He needs to go to the vet ASAP!
You'll need x-rays taken to determine the best course of action, there's not much we can do to help.
If he has any broken bones or open wounds, they're for sure to get inflamed/infected.

Can you take a picture of this injury?

Keep an eye on it. Their mouths can be very tough when they need to be. I had a girl bite through her upper lip and she didn't even miss a meal..

I would not go crazy and rush to the vet for no reason...keep a very close eye on it...any changes for the worse...then schedule a vet visit....Ive had BPs open mouth attack the glass sliding door try to lunge at the mouse/rat before i drop them in the enclosure...ive had my sd retic bite down and wrap fake plastic plants before (that was the funniest thing ive ever seen any of my snakes do....wish I had it on video...he finally uncoiled...unattached his mouth from the plant and look at me like "WTF DUDE...DONT TELL ANYONE I JUST DID THAT")

if the lip positioning would not already be back to normal, i would have carefully opened the mouth. (they can pierce their own mouth with their teeth, and can get stuck in a weird position, opening the mouth would re-align it all.)
but the positioning seems to be already back to normal. pictures would help a lot. there may be issues with maybe a broken jaw or broken teeth, and the red-brown you describe may be an indication of some event that involved bleeding. pictures really do help a lot. maybe a broken tooth from the lower jaw is now lodged in the upper jaw or some other weird things are going on.
BPs are sturdy, when they are properly fed and taken care of before such an event occurs, its quite amazing what they can survive. for a human, who needs to eat every day, a broken jaw is really really nasty, but a BP would simply go off food for a few months until its healed. dont worry too much.
i dont know if a vet is in order, if there are injuries that got exposed antibiotics may be helpful, and maybe a broken tooth needs care, it all depends on how good the vet is, and if its a reptile vet or not. if the veterinarian knows nothing about reptiles, dont bother. if you have a good reptile vet, he might help a lot.
everything would be more clear with pictures. and others on this forum know much more than i do.
