they're quiet, easy to take care of, don't take up a lot of room, cheap, eat once a week, most bites hurt less than a cat bite, they're interesting, people get curious when you have a snake, ummmmmmmmmmmmm, that's all i can think of.

Just not enough time.. :(
30 reasons why they aren't bad luck? lol I wasn't aware they were considered bad luck.
These are mostly for ball pythons. You can have your mom read this if you wish.
1. Small. 3-4 feet sounds big, but length isn't everything. Hell, a baby is 1 1/2 feet long, which might sound big until you have the little thing literally curled up in the palm of your hand.
2. Inexpensive. You often pay more for the enclosure than you do for the snake. Which is easily solved by going cheap. Use a rubbermaid for housing(no more than 15 bucks), clay pots for hides(usually $1 each), newspaper for substrate, digital thermometer and hygrometer(15 dollars) and a 15 dollar heating pad. All from Walmart.
3. No odour. Unlike cats, dogs, hamsters, and other usual pets, a ball python doesn't smell. And if you regularly spot clean in the cage, the enclosure shouldn't smell either.
4. They are very tame and easy to manage. Unlike dogs and cats, when they're young, they are very timid and easy to hold. Try doing that with a hyper kitten with claws.
5. Unlike other pets, such as cats and dogs, you only pay maybe 1 dollar a week for feeding. One mouse or rat a week is enough if you have a healthy feeder on your hands. Think of how much you spend on dog food weekly. A bag of dog food can run 5 dollars easily. That's worth a months supply of food for a ball python.
6. Quiet. They don't bark or meow or squeek on their little hamster wheels all night when you try to sleep. Only way you might be bothered by them is if you have the snake in your room and you use a light at night for heat. Even then, that's not the snakes fault there.
7. Yes. They bite. No, they do not hurt. Atleast no more than a beesting for baby bp's, and maybe a mild cat bite for adults. They rarely draw blood. Hell, they rarely bite at all. Bp's are one of the most timid snakes to own. Most would rather curl up in a ball before theyd strike you.
8. They're a cool pet! I find dogs and cats and other usual pets are boring compared to owning a snake. I love my other pets to death, but that gets trumped easily when you see the look on someones face when they ask you which pets you have and you mention a snake. There's definitely a cool factor, but careful. That's not enough alone to go out and buy a snake. They are a commitment.
9. They can live up to 30 years. Talk about getting your moneys worth. Sure, 30 years may turn you off wanting a snake, but if you ask me, 30 years is a bonus. I've only had my snake for 5 days and I already can't imagine parting with her.
10. Learning experience. Having a snake can be an amazing learning experience. My mom is(or was) DEATHLY afraid of snakes, but since getting my baby ball python, she's definitely warmed up to the idea of having a snake in the house. You should have seen her when I fed little Pelota friday night. She was over the moon. All she talked about was how cool it was to see her constrict the mouse, then somehow squeeze that whole mouse into her tiny mouth, then stretch out and swallow it whole. She also pet her a bit before feeding, which is definitely a breakthrough for my mother. 3 months ago she would have cringed at even the thoughts of a snake in the house. Now she's whistling a whole different tune. Ball pythons are very cool pets to help get over snake fears with the family or friends.
11-30. Tell your mom 30 reasons is a bit unreasonable. 10 seems sufficient.

Being the type of guy I am I would be reasonable and simply ask her for 15 legit reasons snakes are bad luck then if she accomplishes the list ask for proof of each reason
