Ball Python Personalities....????

8) Hey all,
Well, I was thinking that being that I spend so much time with my four Ball Pythons I have detected some noticeable differences in the way they interact with their enviroment and myself. I have a big male called Apok that has a touchy sort of temper - he permits himself to be handled only when he wants it and will let out a nasty hiss and strikeout if he is bothered too much...he is definitely a somewhat mean Ball which makes him very interesting to me...I let him run the show when it comes to handling or chores. I also have a small male called Cypher that always makes a break for it if I leave him by himself outside of his enclosure...all my other snakes will behave themself and sit still but not him !!! he has escaped from me twice so I call him my little escaper guy....heehee :wink:

Then I have my two big baby girls, Trinity and Oracle...they are so sweet it is ridiculous...they are like big stuffed play snakes...I can do anything with them - rub their heads, tickle them ....and they actually have expressive sort of faces...I can always tell when they are hungry - they just seem to be looking around and looking at me to feed them...that, or I am finally starting to crack up and going down the long road to herper insanity... :roll:

before i got a snake i ddint think they had personalities........apprantly i was WRONG.

roxy is a very sweet snake and has never hissed,curled up into ball,or struck at me.but sometimes she does get a little shy around other people.She will let me pet her head and stuff like that, i have been working with her on getting used to all that.Before she wasnt nocturnal but now she is,i wont see her AT ALL during the day and i only catch her out cruisin at night when the other baby is out,

now, about ruby the corn snake (i know i know this is about bps personalities not corn snakes but this little girl is somthing else and i just have to share) anyway im glad she was not my first snake becuase i would have returned her ! sometimes she can be very mean,like the other day i stuck my hand in there to get her water bowl and she let out this god awful hiss and then went into the 's' position and acted like she was goin to bite,it didnt scare me too mch so i pick her up give her a kiss (not really) and tell her how stupid she is,after time she will calm down but for now its quite entertaining

Oh yeah..I have a corn too....great snakes - you cannot beat the combo of having a good Ball Python and a nice corn snake...my corn is a real sweetie....when I first got her she was very skittish and pooped on me twice but now she is very calm and docile...she is amelanistic or what is called a creamsicle....totally cool snake...

yup, I sure do love snakes....

Heh, I call my cornsnake the "Pooper" because I am always keeping an eye on her waiting for her to nail me again...sheesh...

coool, i like the creamsicles,mine is a candy cane i just got her a few days ago,she was born on july 27th so she is still pretty young.I dont have to worry about her not eating too,she has always been the pig of the bunch the breeder told me,thats one of the reasons i bought her instead of another color that i really liked

When i first got nikita, she was really cranky! The first 3 days were crazee. She would hiss and strike. 3 weeks down the road, and shes now a darling! She never hisses nor tries to bite (well except that one incident when she taught i was a rat!). I could tickly her even bite her tail (j/k)! Shes still headshy tho.
