    Juvenile fasting???

Just wondering if juveniles fast also? I picked up a male pastel and a female Mojave from the same breeder on Feb. 23. The pastel has eaten several times, but the female has only ate a pinky mouse about the third week after I got them. I have offered only f/t rats since. Should I pick up a mouse or stick with rats? She weighed 139 grams when I got her, now she's at 130. I'm getting kinda worried. Husbandry is o.k. 90 on hot side, 82 on the cool, with hides on both sides. Sweaterbox rack with about 67% humidity.

Pinky mice are way too small for a juvenile BP. You want to be feeding them something that is about as wide as the widest part of the snakes body. My juvie is on fuzzy rats because he is slightly underweight due to a random fast that he went on. -.-

But, anyway, yes, I would say that juveniles do fast as well. Just monitor weight and make sure that there is no significant weight loss and you should be okay.

I understand that a pinky mouse is way too small, but it was all she would eat. Should I try another pinky, I've been trying fuzzy rats. Thanks for the response.

    Re: Juvenile fasting???

I would try a second next feeding day, personally. If she takes it, awesome. If not, then I guess she's not hungry enough. No big.
