A few questions about breeding...
Hey guys. I got my first BP about a month and a half ago, a pastel. I am enjoying caring for him and I find the breeding hobby fascinating, it's something I think I would like to slowly get involved with, I just have a few questions. How difficult is it to get BP to breed? At what point-in terms of number of snakes- should I get a rack setup? Is it possible to breed them at any time of the year? And accounting for the fact that morphs are different, how difficult is it to sell the offspring? I wouldn't end up keeping them regardless, unless I wanted to, as I know many snake enthusiasts, both friends and friends of friends. Thanks in advance!

How difficult is it to get BP to breed? Not difficult at all once they're old enough. At what point-in terms of number of snakes- should I get a rack setup? I'd recommend a rack right off the bat. You can get a rack that houses as few as 3 snakes on up. Is it possible to breed them at any time of the year? Yes. And accounting for the fact that morphs are different, how difficult is it to sell the offspring? For me, nearly impossible. Others seem to have no problem. I wouldn't end up keeping them regardless, unless I wanted to, as I know many snake enthusiasts, both friends and friends of friends. Then you should have no problem finding homes for your babies...but I guarantee you'll want to keep some. Thanks in advance!

Re: A few questions about breeding...
Thank you for the info! I will actually likely be having a friend of mine who is skilled with woodwork build me a rack....and yes I am quite certain I will want to keep some of the offspring, haha

Added question....where would you recommend buying ball pythons? I refuse to buy from the pet store just on principle on how I see them keep their snakes. I know some people order them from breeders on the Internet...is this generally a legit practice?

If you have any good reptile shows nearby, you can pick up good deals, as well as hold the snakes before buying. Buying off the net is perfectly fine as well, but there is a risk, although very small. I've bought many times off the net and have been 100% satisfied every time. There are many snakes available here, as well as on kingsnake.com and faunaclassifieds.com. Lots of people sell on facebook, but I'm not sure how that works as I don't do the facebook thing. You can also check out the individual breeders websites. There are plenty of links/banners here as well as on the websites I mentioned above. If you have any doubts as to the sellers reputation, you can check here as well as on faunaclassifieds BOI (Board of Inquiry). http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/foru...splay.php?f=13
