i looked for a bit but i think it'd be faster if i just go ahead and create a new topic. i am going to create a humid hide and i just bought some Moss from petco the otherday. I've got my rubbermaid...now wut? Should i wet the moss and shove it in the rubbermaid?

By "got my rubbermaid" do you mean you have a little rubbermaid food container or something of that sort? Well, you need to have an entrance. So either cut a hole in the side, or the top, or whatever. Then dampen the moss and put it inside the hide. Don't wet it where it's soaked or anything. Just damp. I haven't used the stuff, but I think it's absorbent like a sponge(?). So maybe soak the stuff, then ring it out a little, still leaving some moisture in it.

Yup, it's a simple and uber-easy remedy for humidity during shedding, or to just have a humid retreat. Good luck with it.

make sure to smooth out the egdes where you cut the opening with by melting it slightly with the flame from a match or a lighter. check here: http://www.ball-pythons.net/Sections...39-page-1.html

I just soak the moss, squeeze the water out and fluff it up.

i just got a buttter tub,cut a nice whole in it,then put the lid back on,turned it upside down and put some nice damp paper towels in there, works great. I would use the moss stuff but paper towels is so much cheaper and plus,my setup isnt that natural anymore so it would look wierd

Ok. I just made the humid hide today because I think Coyle is getting close to shedding and I am having trouble keeping the humidity about 50% (combo of the central a/c and screen top most likely). I used a 6 cup round rubbermaid, cut the hole, put in peat moss from walmart. Wet it thoroughly and soaked up the water and then squeezed it and poured the excess out. Put the lid on and put it in the tank. Question:
How often do I need to rewet and do I remove it after he sheds or leave it for him? Thanks!

Some people leave it in all the time, some put it in only when shedding. It's up to you. You may have to put him in the hide so he knows it's there. I would check the moss in a day or two and see if it needs to be rewet or not, and then check again another day or two later. It will depend on your tank humidity, temps etc on how quick it dries up.
