    picked this up as a hide for rex at a dollar store today. its wicker. you can see some light in it.is it ok to use?

    Probably would work ... dont know how secure he would think it is. Wicker does let light through. You could try it out and see if he likes it. Another thing to consider is proper cleaning of it. The wicker could soak up something if he poo's or urinates in it.

    Agreed. You could try hot-glueing some of that vinyl tablecloth material stuff to the inside and outside of it....that might aid in cleaning and light entrance. I know Vash has a hide designed for herps that has a small hole in the roof, and she refuses to use it. It was designed with this hole; I just wasn't thinking when I bought it, I guess. :-/

    Mite Question

    I dunno. Seems wicker has a smell to it. The wicker I have around my house does anyway. I wonder what kind of wood it's made out of. Also, if it isn't sealed or anything, it might soak up odors and mold up easily. I think you're right about using it as a last resort thing.

    well, im running out of shoeboxes. rex likes to pee all over them. i need to get some plastic ones. i guess il have to go to a couple dollar stores.
