Ball Python drinking like a dog???
So my new ball python has just turned one year old and she is in the final stages of her shedding process. And last night i woke up and noticed her with her head in her water dish. When i went to go look she had just the tip of her nose submerged and was lapping it up like a dog!! You could see her lapping it up with her tongue. Is this normal? I've looked it up lots and no one seems to know why she's doing this. She laid like that for half an hour . Here is a video i took of her doing it

Well, I'm not an experienced keeper by any means, but that is what my normal boy does. I don't think there's anything to be worried about.

Yeah, I've seen both of mine drink like that. I'm not sure how else they would drink, really.

Re: Ball Python drinking like a dog???
Mine usually don't lap up water like a dog they always just suck it up since their little mouths are like a straw, but either way they are just drinking water I wouldn't be worried about it. Most people never even see their snakes drink water so your a lucky person

I have seven snakes and everyone of them drink water like that.....seems normal to me. Don't worry about it.

Just let your snake be a snake! Nothing wrong here.

I'm working on a Snake Tracker App! If you have any ideas or suggestions on features, feel free to post them in the Development Thread! I'll also be posting updates on the development of this program in this thread!

best way i can describe how mine drink is by sipping, their mouths are submerged and you see their jaw muscles moving. licking water must have been cute to watch.

Normal. This is why, contrary to a few people's beliefs, you need go give your snakes a water bowl at all times.

Thanks for all your input! She's still new to me and I had heard and seen that they just get it off the walls or the ground or even absorb it through their skin (haven't seen that last one) Mine now comes out after i spray the tank and almost looks like she's sniffing the ground haha it's cute. But thank you guys! I thought she was super dehydrated.
