Weird feeding????
I fed Moko his f/t rat tonight and everything went well until he tried to eat. He tried twice from the butt end, then twice about mid section , after a while he gave up and wanted to go home. Fed him half a dozen times with no problem. He's not going into shed and husbandry is fine. Oh, every time he went near the rats head he wouldn't even try to eat. Would he lose interest if the rat cooled off?

It happens sometimes. Don't freak out about it. Just offer him again same time next week. He'll figure it out.

Re: Weird feeding????
Just curious why wait the full 7 days before trying again?? My guy refused his meal yesterday...but today his eyes are blue....so planned on waiting til he cleared up.....does everyone suggest waiting because of the stress level it can cause....or because everyone has a certain day of the week they usually feed all of them at once?

Stress and, I've heard, that you create almost a habit of non-feeding because the stress that having dinner waved in their face when they don't want it can actually turn them OFF eating. At the very least, I've been told from just about everyone to wait at least 5 days or so.

Personally, I like to offer food on a schedule, which, in my case, is once a week, every Wednesday evening. If they eat, fine. If they don't, they get another chance the following week. No Ball Python is going to have a problem with missing a meal...they've turned it into an art form. Not to mention, we most likely overfeed these animals anyway.
