Humidity control

I know glass tanks are not the best for humidity reasons, but I have not had time to build a suitable enclosure yet. I am wanting to build one for a specific location in my house that will also have a bookcase. It's really going to look like a piece of furniture instead of just an enclosure. It's going in our great room, so I'm trying to make something pretty nice that will match our furniture.
However; in the meantime I am looking at a few ways to keep humidity up without having to mist daily. Does anyone have an opinion on a monsoon rainmaker? The reviews seem pretty good, but I wanted other opinions from the forum.

Never had one so can't help ther, but I thinkmthe better option would be to just make a custom plywood lid and be done with the issue. It will take longer for the polycrylic to cure than the actual making, so your not really out much time or money. Unless of course you need the mister anyway, then maybe that would be the better route.

I've never used the product personally in the OP, but I'm sure it's capable of delivering a lot of moisture, perhaps even too much. Have you tried covering part of the top to hold in moisture?

Are you using a heat lamp on top of the tank that is on top of your lid? If so, look for the tinfoil mod on the forum and do that. Along with that get a larger water bowl and place it halfway between the cold and hot side. Let the humidity stabilize and from there move the water bowl closer to the heat for more humidity or to the cold for less. If you reach a level that the humidity will not increase then increase the size of the water bowl so you will have a larger surface area of water.

I have a UTH with a TSTAT between it and the glass. I have it set on 96 and it keeps it at 89 inside floor temp. I have a heat light keeping the ambient air temp around 87 on the warm side and 82 on the cool side. Night temps drop a bit. I use a lower watt bulb at night. I have a medium size bowl closer to the hot side. I also have a piece of sheet metal covering the screen top except where the light sits. I mist it in the evenings and it's keeping the humidity close. When I get home in the afternoons the humidity is still around 45%, so it's working, I just REALLY need to get busy and build something better than the 20L glass tank!!

If you are maintaining at 45%, and already have a cover for the lid, try a size larger water bowl so you have a larger surface area for the water to evaporate from.
