    new cage builds (door ?????s)

Ok so i am building all new cages for my snakes and bearded dragons I would like to put sliding glass doors in the front of the cage

?1 is 1/8 in standard glass ok to use / will it hold up to the heat and animal

?2 does the glass need to be completely trimmed

?3 will the hard plastic track work for sliding the glass

?4 what if I built my own track out of wood to match the cage what is the recommended depth

    some more cage info
cages are built out of 3/4 in hardwood, I have two different sizes 6 ft cage (rough opening to fit glass into is 5ft long by 1 ft tall) 4ft cage (rough opening is 3ft long by 1ft tall) I can either place the glass in the rough opening our recess it behind the front frame. Heating is done by RHP, lighting LED waterproof strip lighting.
reptiles housed Boas, BP, and Bearded Dragons (they also have a built in UV light bar and a peg board top to account for the lack of moisture they need)

Re: new cage builds (door ?????s)

I used the U shaped aluminum that is just under 3/4 of an inch for my track that I found at Lowe's. In the same section is also the flat pieces of aluminum And I used that to build up 2 layers in the bottom track. That will create a smaller lip for the glass and allow you to lift the whole glass section up and remove it. That also makes it easier to install it since you don't have to try and install the track with the glass in the track.

I used plexiglass and had it cut so that 1/8 of an inch is inside the top and bottom tracks. With the flat aluminum In the bottom track it will give u the space in the top track to allow it to be removed by lifting it up and the bottom edge will clear the bottom track.

Here is a link to the thread of mine and I have a link to a video I made.
