Over feeding question

Well unfortunately I fed a prey that was too large. I fed Saturday night and now on Tuesday he still has a decent bulge . I tried to take him out to get a better look and he kept shoving my hand off and hissing so he is also pretty grumpy so I left him alone. Wondering if I should still try to feed again Saturday or if I should wait longer? Also when should I start trying to handle him again? Thanks

I would wait. Also make sure your temps are in ideal range so he can digest. I keep mine hotter when I'm heavy feeding (bulking them up).

Ok thanks for the reply. How long would you suggest waiting before trying to feed again ? Is it a bad idea to offer a undersized next time just to keep the feeding schedule? He has eaten for me every Saturday since I got him and I was really hoping to keep that streak going lol . It would be thawed prey if that makes a difference .

Temps are 82 in one hide and 92 in the other where he is sleeping it off . Thanks

Quick update here. I tried a way undersized rat pup on Saturday with no luck . There goes the perfect feeding routine . He hasn't even popped his head out since last week so I am guessing he will shed really soon .

I wouldn't trip about it. Sometimes they eat sometimes they dont. Won't kill em to miss a feed especially if they ate heavy the week before. Just make sure everything is correct with your husbandry and they will be fine. Consecutive way to big prey can cause issues, but one isn't going to hurt anything. I have some BP'S that might be 200 grams take small rats without issue. Just don't do it often lol. If they can't fit it they wont take it. And if they aren't hungry they won't take it.

Don't worry, just don't mess with them and it will be fine. I've fed too large an item a few times and it usually results in a short feeding strike. Since then I prefer to feed small prey more often and have found better consistency this way.

Thanks for the replies. He finally came out of his hide box and he is back to normal size . He did indeed shed yesterday like I thought he was going to so if all goes well he will be eating again Saturday night .
