    Adopting a friends Burmese (HELP!!!!)

Ok I know these are not the greatest starter snakes. Buddy is moving on to a different chapter in his life and his 14 yr old python can't go with. Anyways he has been in a custom built enclosure for the last 14 yrs that was built into the house, so moving his enclosure is not possible. I am looking at 72 X 30 X 18 cage from Constrictors NW, I have heard quite a few good things about these. Just wondering if anyone can help me get in the right direction for all the other cage necesseties, such as heating, temp gauges, humidity and all the other fun stuff. Do these guys need a hot and cool side like ball pythons? Yes I am gonna read the guide. Just want personal experiences too. My main concern is keeping this guy healthy and happy.

You could always ask your buddy he's been keeping him for 14 years must be doing something right. Reptiles like having a warm and cooler spot so they can regulate their temp. I think a lot of people use radiant heat panels for their big snakes but I'm sure just like anything there are many personal preferences.

Yeah, he has just been using some heat lamps. Which is easier to do in the enclosure he has. This has been his only reptile and he really hasn't branched out from what has been working with new stuff.

Monster Cages is in your state and they make excellent enclosures for larger snakes as well. I have two of their 96"x30"x18".

How big is the snake? A 6 foot long enclosure seems a little small for a full grown burmese...

Definetly going to check them out, thank you. NW constrictors has about a 9-10 wk lead time. So I may have to find a temporary enclosure. 8ft long enclosure seems to be more appropriate.

Also what options do I have for temporary enclosures if I can't get a custom one in time. Anyone use the large steralite tubs, or anything else?
