First time handling and got nipped
So here's the background. I got my first bp last Monday to which I left him alone to get used to his new home. His last feeding according to the breeder was the Tuesday the week before. So on Saturday I decided to try and feed him since he went a little while than he's used too. He took the adult mouse without hesitation and seemed satisfied. He weighs 150grams btw. So fast forward 2 days later post digestion , I figured lets get this handling down. I knocked on the enclosure twice than slowly moved to his hide and knocked twice lifted it up and slowly touched his back away from his head. Then I picked him up and it all seemed to go great. I let him explore my hands then he saw the skin between my thumb and index finger and decided to munch on it so to say no strike. I set him on the floor and he looked to be slithering away quickly. I tried to get him smoothly but then he hissed at me lol. I got him to move into a small tub then I moved him back to his enclosure. I had washed my hands thoroughly beforehand as well. Hmmm well I'm glad I got the first "bite" out of the way but I feel he's still stressed. Should I leave him alone until his next feeding or attempt another holding tomorrow?
Tldr: First time holding bp in my care, bit me but no strike .. Should I try again or wait till next feeding?

I would give him some space until he gets his next feeding, make sure the prey is the right size (in relation to the widest part of his body) since your hand could have looked like snack... ensure his enclosure is good with the temps, humidity, and hides, etc.... my guy nipped at me today too, missed but yea.. my breeder also said all hers have been nippy the last couple weeks, it could just be the time of year and they are being assho... not friendly.... I know the weather where I live has been all the seasons and it has messed my guys up and thrown the nippy one into hunger strike... so yea.... sry rambling...
Bottom line- triple check habitat for awesomeness
- make sure you got the right feeder size, adjust accordingly
- give him some space a couple weeks, he may just need some more adjustment time
(good form on initial handling though, kudos)

Haha, sounds like he wants some time alone.

I'm working on a Snake Tracker App! If you have any ideas or suggestions on features, feel free to post them in the Development Thread! I'll also be posting updates on the development of this program in this thread!

hes a baby and will break out of it eventually .. give him a couple of days to cool down and take him out again .. if it happens again do not put him down or back in his enclosure cause then he will learn that if he don't want to b messed with he can just act that way .. next time u pick him up u can keep him in a ball in ur hand for a few minutes then put him back .. then more and more each time
