How much does your snake sleep on the cool side of your hide?

My bp has been spending more time on the cool side of his tank , he sleeps there for 4 to 5 hours at a time , sometimes longer, before going back into his heated hide. This is the first time I've noticed him doing this within 24 hrs of eating. He usually goes to the warm hide and pretty much stays there for 48 hrs before coming out , but not now. Warm hide 89f cool side ranges from 74-77 humidity a little high at 70% but usually 60% steady. (warm day today) . First ball and I'd like opinions please to whether or not this is common?

Mine usually uses her warm hide for a while after I take her out for handling even when shes warm.
Afterwards she goes in her cool hide and stays there till she gets cold which can be a while then moves over.
She loves her cool hide her cool hide she goes in her warm hide till she wants to move. Ive seen her spend hours in both, and general doesn't really move around to much she just sleeps where shes comfortable.

So I wouldn't worry about it.

My younger ball stays on the cool side of his enclosure all the time. When I took him out a few days ago to handle him, he felt very cold to me. When I put him back, he went straight back to the cool side. Don't know what his deal is, but I just assume it is normal.

Moko did that exact same thing the other day, I thought he felt cold then afterwards took his time going straight back to the cool side like he was warm or something, soo weird..

Well I think that it depends on snake's mood. They are not programmed robots, so their behavior is sometimes "out of ordinary" or how should I say it. Mine sometimes prefers to stay in his cool hide, sometimes in his warm hide and sometimes he switches them at night :-) I think you have nothing to worry about if your temps are set correctly. Your snake knows the best what to choose.

If you can either bump up that ambient temp to 80F, or drop the humidity slightly, this will lessen the chance of a respiratory infection. It should not ever drop below 75F!

On that note, my BP spends a good deal of time in his cool hide/side (which is around 78F - my humidity is a bit on the low side because of the time of year), rather than his warm hide/spot (90F). Typically he is not in his warm hide unless it drops below 78F; otherwise he is laying across his big branch or overturned plant pot as soon as the sun dips low in the sky!

We have snakes that live on the cool side and only go to the hot spot after they eat. I guess they just like it colder than the rest.
