    Ball pythons and vacation.

I plan on going on vacation this summer and so I have started on the quest to find someone to take care of my ball pythons. I plan on being gone for just 4-5 nights, but I think that would be to many to leave my balls unattended. At the same time it's really tough finding someone that will babysit my snakes even with an offer of $100.

What do you guys think? Would they be fine for that length of time in my apartment alone? The only real thing I am worried about is making sure they have enough water and if they defecate I don't want that lingering in their cages.

They should be fine if you can't find anybody. Of course, it would be better if they had somebody to check their water and their poop, but it wouldn't necessarily hurt them. I would be more worried about their heat failing while you're gone and you come back and they all get sick due to the temps. Find somebody if you can, but 4-5 nights isn't all that bad. What you can do to help reduce the likelihood of them pooping while you're gone is to skip the feeding before you leave, that way there's nothing digesting. Will somebody probably still poop regardless? Yes. But then you're also not risking leaving a half-digested rat in there if one regurgitates.

In short: they would be okay, but it would be better to find somebody that can check on them at least once while you're gone.

Thank you for the information! I'm not to concerned with the heat failing because I planned to lower their temp in the cages because my apartment will stay at around 80 without the air conditioner on. I'm now worried about keeping the humidity up. I don't really want to invest in a fogger.

And since I have a couple of months to prepare I could hopefully find someone that I trust to board them.

Where are you at? There may be people on the boards willing to check on them or even take them in for a week or whatever.

I'm in Atlanta Georgia. I'm not really sure I'm comfortable with someone that I don't know watching them or in my apartment.

We went on vacation last fall. We were gone 7 nights and my snakes were just fine. I cleaned every ones enclosure before we left, gave them plenty of water, made sure every thing was secure and left. I will admit I worried a little while were on vacation about the heat failing but they all were fine. Good luck!

I wouldn't be too worried. I was on vacation for about 5 days and my babies were fine. Just make sure you give them fresh water before you leave and hopefully it won't evaporate.

Extra bedding, full water, and make sure they have hides so they can climb on top if the ground gets too wet for any reason.

    They'll be fine.
