Steve Irwin's cameraman tells the story (Verbally Graphic)
Steve's cameraman tells the story of his last day. Since it is out there, I'm sure the hobby will want to see it.

I just watched this on MSN.
I was still in High School when he died, I remember waking up and turning on the news and seeing it. I immediately teared up, call it childish; but when I was that age it was my dream to work at the Australia Zoo.
I can credit him and his TV shows to being the sole purpose as to why I got into reptiles, and animals in general. I just can't believe its been 7, almost 8 years already. Watching the interview still got me all teary eyed.

I was only in grade school, maybe my freshman year of high school. It felt like a close uncle had died, honestly. I went to my favorite window in the house with my stuffed animals and cried for hours. This video was really hard to watch, I'll be honest.

The loss of Steve is a tragic and painful one for animal lovers all over the world and even these years later to know how it all went down is even more so. He inspired countless people and is still loved and remembered the world over.

I'll never forget that day. So so sad. What a tragic loss.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.

This one man, in his short time in the spotlight, did more to educate the public and humanize reptiles than most of us can hope to do in our entire lives. I believe firmly that with the death of Steve Irwin, Animal Planet switched gears to what it has become today. People like Steve, Jeff Corwin, Nigel Marvin, and others are in a class all their own...these are the kind of people this hobby deserves, and the kind of person we all should strive to be.
