    Unhappy Tub or tank?

I've had my bp for 2 years now, usually i keep her in my 50 gallon tank or a custom made vivarium (made of plywood). I'm getting tired of how much space they take up. So i went to walmart and bought a 67 quart sterlite (roll under the bed) storage bin, drilled holes in it, applied a zoomed heating pad and hooked it up to a thermostat. Now im wondering, in your opinion what do snakes prefer? i'm afraid of doing the wrong thing for her.

Tubs have all the advantages and tanks have all the drawbacks, except one. In a tank, you can see your Ball Python roam around freely and act natural. Oh wait, normal healthy Ball Pythons hide all day? Well then, a tub it is!

I like tubs or plastic enclosures. Aquariums are for fish!

    Re: Tub or tank?

I'm getting ready to switch mine to a tub/rack system. I've been keeping my snakes in terrariums for almost three years and I'm tired of the humidity battles. All my research has basically led me to believe tubs are the way to fix all my issues. Plus, my collection goes to three on Tuesday, and I need to streamline snake housing so I can have a piece of furniture without a snake cage on top lol.

    Thumbs up

Ive recently switched from T8 ap show cases to tubs.. And i love it! Tubs are easy clean, easy to maintain, and i just love them. Ive been using 62qt hefty tubs from lowes, i taped three sides on the outside to help reduce the stress and i have a viewing side. Mine sit on a childs armoire that sits chest high.. I can see in the cages and where they are, check temps and generally keep an eye on them.

Only downfall of tubs is making sure lid centers are secured to the tub somehow so a bp cant push and make an opening

So stop fretting, your bp will feel just fine in a tub

Okay well its good to know i'm on the right track, to secure the lid i put pieces of industrial strength Velcro around it. Do you think this will be sufficient? (the ends snap shut as well) if not what else do you recommend

Also, the bottom of it has ridges.. is that going to effect anything? the heat pad stays on well.
