New Girl.
I just picked up a beautiful big normal girl yesterday from an LPS I don't get to go to often because of the distance from me,but I was in the area and got to go! She weighs almost 1700 grams and is dark. Poor baby has rat bites all up her spine from her previous idiot. Evidently they got poorly cared for rats and just left them in with her. Let this be a lesson to people. My LPS was feeding her FT mediums while she was there. The owner told me they get the sob story "I love my pet but can'tcare for it aanymore" all the time. The snakes have horrible scars, mites, are dehydrated, and are under weight and they love their pets. This poor girl probably has an aversion to live because of jerks. I told him my girl is probably the same age and has been fed mostly live and has never been bitten. Well this new girl is in a bin with heat, humidity, hide and water on paper towels for now. When she is determined safe I might see how she likes my male yellow belly. I love her pattern too. It's a little less alien and more flames, her blushing is a little higher than I like but beautiful too. She is huge compared to my other normal female. I really need to get my first girl fed up and to size. She's now over a 1000 gr full.

I think it just goes to show how little sleep I got during the night because when I read "LPS" my brain immediately went "Littlest Pet Shop...??? ?"
It's always such a bummer to hear that sob story though because it's not like BPs are even remotely high maintenance. I'm fairly certain that any able-bodied people could even provide the very basic of care if they're in their house a minimum of an hour a day (but if you're going to be out that much what's the point of having a pet in the first place) so quite frankly, I'm just convinced it's bullpocky 80% of the time. Wish that snakes we're considered the kind of animal that you can just buy on a whim... actually, I wish that for every animal.
Good luck with her though!

Re: New Girl.
Let me guess you little kiddos too lol. The LPS owner used to have a small stire till he out grew it lol. He also truly cares for the animals he sells. If the animal is sick he takes it to a vet not just self treating till it dies. He quarantines past the recommended time unless he knows the person buying the animals will quarantine. He doesn't have mites in his store either which is a huge surprise. He has a building out back for his breeding rodents that is cared for by 2 different employees, and he's in and out every day to check on things. He's a really nice guy and will tell you all the info he can and if he can't then he will find it. He's not afraid of learning like some people are. He doesn't breed snakes but he is knowledgeable about the process. I can call him any time for help and he will give me ideas to try or say go to a vet now. I am so glad I know him. Wish he was closer though lol. I can't wait to see what happens with this girl after she acclimates to my care. She is as dark as my first girl which is what drew me to her. I love the darker BPs.

Re: New Girl.
The only thing I'm doing with her right now is fresh water, and temp and humidity watch. I want her to settle in before I do other stuff. It was over an hour drive back from the LPS. Then getting her bin set up because I wasn't expecting to get a new snake yesterday lol.
