    Sleeping outside of hide?

I'm not really concerned, I actually think it's quite goofy. But my Ball this morning decided to instead of going into his hide that he normally sleeps in, to make room BEHIND it & sleep back there all day. This isn't something I should be concered of is it? He's slept in the hide he's sleeping behind before. Just incase, my setup is always about 78-80 on the cool side & 87-90 on the warm side. & humidity ranges from 50-60% just depends. I got 2 hides, one on warm side & one on cool side, a big ol water bowl & a branch to climb on in the middle of the cage. Anything I should be concerned about or do I just got a goofy little Ball? I attached a picture as to where he's sleeping now & then the hideout he normally sleeps in. Thanks! :3

    Re: Sleeping outside of hide?

Edit: in the picture he kind of looks too big for that hideout but i know he fits cause hes slept in it for the past week & I know they like feeling secure as well.

Lol, I'm definitely gonna check to see if that might be why he's sleeping there then!

My girl does this too at times. Its 1 of a few things. Peed or pooped, too hot, or just wants tto sleep some where else lol. I spot check daily, and deep clean once a week depending on how bad their caging is. If not then once a month I go through and scrub the crud out and soak in bleach.

Okay! He's slept in his hide again the past two nights since I made this post & I checked for pee or poop but there was none there, so I'm guessing he just wanted something different. Thanks!

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got this hobby came from a long time breeder and keeper when he said, "You know, sometimes Ball Pythons do strange crap".

    Re: Sleeping outside of hide?

Several of my snakes don't even have hides, and they don't mind. I took the hides out because they never used them, and the hides just took up space. I have one snake who uses one of two hides he has access to, but he stacks the hides on top of each other
Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.
