Want to order in bulk but have question

My BP weights 546grams, and I have been feeding him/her frozen rats that weighted 61grams. I want to buy in bulk so I can save in money since the only place I can get frozen is at petsmart and at $14 for 2 rats that's crazy. So my first question who do you guys recommend to buy in bulk? Also the size rat I am feeding right now, is that a good size or should I bump up?

A lot of people use bigcheeserodents.com never had any complaints and never heard of any. Very reputable with their products. Also rule of thumb for size of food is the widest part of the rat or mouse should be as the widest part of your ball python.

Thanks for the recommendation! The size I am feeding I would say is just as wide as the snake. How long will this size last? This way I know if I should buy couple different sizes.

If you were feeding 61 gram rats I think you'll be fine with a few bags of small rats. On the site it says they range from 50-89 so feed the smaller ones first. I heard very good things about bigcheeserodents that's who I'll be ordering from once I decide to place a bulk order.

I normally get all my frozen rats from the vendor at my local show. He's from rodent pro I believe. I get a bag of 20 rats for $35. I normally get two bags and that'll last me a couple months.
    I've got quite a few...

I just got a bag of rodents this size from big cheese and there are 20 in the bag. If Matilda gets to big for this size before I run out, I just assume that I will feed a bit more often (2x/wk instead of 1x/wk) until they are gone and then increase the size when I order again. Same goes for my baby ball. He's eating rat fuzzies and they come in packs of 25, so I figure if he outgrows them before we run out, I will just feed more often and then increase rat sizes. Hope this helps.

I almost never feed anything bigger than a small rat, even to adult BPs. You can always feed 2 smalls if you feel like one isn't enough.

dont do that, stick to the scedule. when the food items get too small, feed one, wait 5-10 minutes, then feed the next. that is, if the BP is looking for more. its more effective when you feed two (or more) directly after another in the same feeding. its not good to just switch to a 3-day feed scedule. stick to your 7 day routine and just offer a second one right after the first one is down. people tried it, its better to put multiple food items into one feeding, compared to feeding more often.

You can feed twice a week if your prey is too small. You could also feed multiples in one shot. Its personal preference and really up to the snake. Some won't take more than one feeder in one go while others can slam a handful at once.
