    Drool...is this an RI

My BP is just getting over mites (think we FINALLY won the battle thanks to all of your tips ) I just now got her out to handle & my husband was like 'eww shes drooling!' & sure enough a big string of drool was hanging from her mouth.

I'm sure the mites must weaken an animals immune system, so could they have caused her to get sick...I don't know where else she would get an RI from, her temps are perfect & she had a perfect shed a few weeks ago.

So is this an RI...I know a vet trip is for sure in order! Do I need to worry about my boa catching it also.

Could she have just been in the water bowl?
keep an eye on her. Stress also weakens the immune system

She was out by the water bowl when I picked her up so maybe. I've also been bathing her every other day due to the mites.

I've had it happen a couple times when you pick up a snake after it takes a drink.. liquid pours from the mouth. Keep an eye on her but I wouldn't worry too much.

Give her an hour or so to settle, then pick her up and listen to her breathing to see if you can hear any wheezing or popping noises. Also if you keep a hand under the front third of her body under her lungs you may be able to feel "gurgling", almost like air bubbles running through a water hose, if she has an RI and is congested.
