    First Lock!

My husband and I decided to go ahead and make the plunge. Yesterday afternoon, while cleaning out the snake tubs, we paired Blondie, the citrus pastel yellowbelly, and Specter, the specter (name is so original right?! lol). Blondie immediately started wagging and lifting her tail for him, she was obviously quite ready. He seemed a little unsure being thrown into another snake's environment, but started moving around her body. That evening before bed we checked on them again and saw them laying next to each other, but no actual lock.

Fast forward to this morning, I checked on them again, and there's a lock!!! So excited! Here's hoping for super stripes!!

So yes, I did take a picture, but naturally in the time it took me to grab my camera and come back (should have had it with me to begin with), they decided to hide their tails. So this is the best I could get I swear there's a lock under there though! (And excuse the poor quality photo, that was taken on my cell phone. My real camera had apparently not made it out of my husband's car yesterday...)

Why keep a snake? Why keep any animal? Because you enjoy the animal, find something beautiful and fascinating about it, and it fits seamlessly into your lifestyle.

I'll probably be posting LOTS of pictures as the time goes by!!!

I can't wait to see what comes out. The only part I'm worried about is trying to figure out any normals from specters. Those alone will be a good reason to post lots of pictures, with a "what is this?" plea for help attached. hehe

Yay I'm subscribing so I can keep up to date. And yeah telling the normals from the specters will be difficult but we should be able to help not me but some of the other members lol

I'm new to this, and I could be wrong, but I think something is going on here!

I haven't been too good about getting pictures, but I wanted to make a point to get this one. I tried pairing her a second time, and she was unreceptive. I also tried palpating, but I couldn't tell if I was feeling follicles, or just muscles. At this point, with her looking bigger around, I'm a little worried about trying to palpate her again, I don't want to do something wrong and cause some damage.

    What do you think?

    Inverted snake!

    Looking might round there.

    Is that a "tail suck"?

She's also been soaking herself daily. I finally put in a bigger dish for her to actually fit in. She seems much happier with that. I can't wait!
