hey everyone, i just got back from wal mart, i picked up a digital thermometer and snother human heat pad (no auto shut off this time) i got the acu rite one .So my question is........you know the wire with that little sticky pad thing ?? well do where do i stick that thing ?? over the heat pad, or on the cool side ??

i also had another question that is totally off subject but i thought i would ask here instead of making another whole post,so anyways, i know that when bps get bigger they will be eating large rats, how big is a newborn rabbit ? or they about as big as adult rats ?? are they better nutritionaly than rats ??......just somthing that popped into my head

I didnt even take the sticky stuff off of my probe. As for where to stick it .. its all up to you. Some people put it on the hot side, some on the cool. It really doesnt make a difference either way, you are still gonna get the temps on both sides ( as long as you put the probe on the opposite side as the base unit ).

I wouldnt think that a newborn rabbit would be as nutritious as an adult rat. The newborn rabbit's bones wouldnt be developed as much as the rats and therefore not giving as much calcium. Rats get bigger than your bp will ever need.

k,but when i put the probe over the heat pad it of course reads a higher temp, so then i dont know what its like on the cool side, right now the temps arent really perfect, its about 85 86 and the humidity is about 53% but i would like it to be about 65 maybe

    brazil rainbow boas ??

You put the actual Thermomater/Hygrometer on one side of the enclosure and the probe on the other side.

To get more heat, try removing a bit of the substrate.

Doesnt it read two temps? There should be a clock button .. hit it and it should switch to dual temps ( if that is the one you bought )

Na .. it'll be fine. You may wanna let it go for more than 5 minutes in either place to make sure you are getting a good reading. Everytime you take the top off of the enclosure it will loose some of the heat.

i like to put the probe inside of the hide on the hot side so that i know exactly what the temp is where nellie is actually laying and spending a lot of her time. i let the accurite sit for about an hour once i had everything in place and had the tank closed up to make absolutely sure everything was levelled out and the temps were steady where they were gonna stay before i adjusted things (unless of course the reading was way too high or low to start with). try the diy humid hide to raise humidity if you want it higher. that works wonders for me.
