I was watching an Animal Planet show last week about snakes (don't recall the name, unfortunately). Verrrry interesting.
The three highlights of the show (to me, anyways):
1. They showed an unusual snake from Africa; the African **** Snake (again, having a senior moment). What struck me about this particular snake was its color. The whole body was light brown/tan, and the coloring got darker near its head. Absolutely beautiful!
2. A 12-foot anaconda was shown w/its prey. And not just ordinary prey, mind you, but a four foot Cayman alligator. They didn't show the snake eating the Cayman, just giving it a little hug (awww). According to the narrator, with a meal like that the snake wouldn't have to eat again for a few months.
3. Another interesting snake was one that ate eggs only. (I believe that it lives in the US, but don't quote me on it). They showed the snake swallowing an egg from a ground-nesting bird, and there was some mechanism within the snake's body (ribs, maybe) that allowed the egg to be crushed. The snake regurgitated the shell, and kept the egg's contents inside. Facinating to watch.
Anyone else catch the show (& possibly remember the name)?
