    tail wagging

My firefly always starts wagging his tail before he poops. It is nice to have an early warning! Has anyone else noticed their snake doing this? Unfortunately, my fire does not. She let loose on me and the couch yesterday with absolutely zero warning. Not good...

One of my boys did this when he gets excited, I have only witnessed it once though.

    Re: tail wagging

I've only actively witnessed one bowel movement, and it was startling to say the least.

I looked over and Nessie was crawling laboriously across the front of the tank. Then her 'hindquarters' hunched up and her tail went in the air. I was VERY concerned, until I saw the actual act of nature taking place. :p

ETA: I just realized that, describing it that way, the basic function of snake defecation takes many of the same ritual as a dog's would. Omg.

I've never seen it before a bowel movement, but Ajja has done it before striking. I wish I had gotten it on video. It was hilarious.

That's kind of cute, and considerate of your BP
I have never seen my ball poop... in all the months I've had him, his presents have been burried time and time again. However, I have had MANY encounters of the turd-kind with my corn snake. She doesn't wag her tail as such, but sticks it straight out sometimes. If I massage her it almost always gets her to poop on command. Because she is a thin species of snake I can see her muscles contracting right before it happens, too. A little warning is better than no warning!

    Re: tail wagging

I have seen him do it 4 times. The first time I didn't catch on and he pooped and peed all over the bed. The next three times I saw him start wagging so I put him in his cage and he pooped within a few minutes. It is funny, he wags his tail back and forth like a dog, but slower. I'll try to get a video next time.
