    E-Cigarettes

I've decided I REALLY need to quit smoking. I don't know why I even started again after I got out my basic training, but I did. I'm that person that's on the fence about quitting. My will isn't strong enough to just stop. I WANT to quit for obvious reasons: not dying slowly from lung cancer, being with my family longer, being able to run without feeling like my lungs are on fire, etc. But...I don't really want to quit. I like smoking, and I have the typical triggers that make it REALLY hard: driving, eating...err others. Either way, I told my wife I'm quitting, I've told my son I'm quitting...so I really need to.

I've been really skeptical of E-cigarettes because a couple years ago I tried using those crappy disposable ones from the gas stations. I don't even remember the brand, but it was terrible. It didn't help in the least, and then I read that there are carcinogens in them and aren't really much better! Anyone use V2 Cigs? I just ordered some of the E-liquid ones, not the cartridge ones. I know a few people that have used them and they seem to like them, but figured I'd see if anyone here has any experience with them.

I used a blucig for a few months when I was quitting and it wasn't half bad. You don't really get the same level of satisfaction but if you're going with the weaning method it works well enough.

    Re: E-Cigarettes

I have the Nicstation brand. It uses liquid crap and you have to plug it in to charge it, is that the kind you mean?

It helped in some ways. Like, when I didn't feel like going outside I could sneak into the bathroom at work and have a fake-smoke! As far as helping with the cravings, it didn't work for me. It doesn't taste or feel like you're smoking at all. You knows particularly stressful or boring days where you smoke significantly more than average and you notice it in your chest in the evening? That's how the e-cig made me feel all the time. I didn't care for it at all. It'll get you through in a pinch, but it's just not the same as a Camel!

But the nic-liquid was expensive so I've been spiking my pepsi with it so as not to be wasteful.

I'm a lot like you describe yourself. I don't really want to quit and I have zero will power. If you haven't already, you should try Chantix. It works really well. I used it and quit for several weeks with very minimal withdrawal issues. I still wanted to smoke sometimes in the beginning but I didn't act like a complete psycho and the cravings passed quickly. After awhile, I literally just kind of forgot that I smoked.

When I started again after that it was because I had this brief, minor I-could-go-for-a-smoke thing and there was one available so I smoked it thinking it was "just one". Nope. If you make it through that first week or so and don't kill anyone or relapse, you really can never, ever, ever, do it again no matter what.

I got a vape for Christmas, and I like it well enough. However, the novelty wore off within a week or two. I need to remind myself that I have it, and I think I need new liquid for it, I got Spearmint flavor and level 12 nicotine. I'm not the biggest Spearmint fan, and I need a higher nic level to take the edge off. However, my liquid supplier has pretty good prices, so I might run back after I go back to work and actually have money.

(It doesn't help that my aunt is currently paying me in smokes for the odd-jobs I do for her household.)

    Re: E-Cigarettes

I use a e-cig when I feel stressed or have anxiety from school and work. I used to smoke from 13-20 years old and quit cold turkey. I just feel like the process of inhaling and exhaling really calms my nerves. And I am all the way down to 0 mg of nicotine as well since nicotine raises my blood pressure and I am only 25. E-cigs (most) are just water vapor and nicotine, no carcinogins.

I have to recommend the vape pens. They're reusable, reliable, and you can change the amount of nicotine included with your choice of flavor. Plus they usually come with rechargeable batteries, so you don't have to keep spending money on those.

I'm working on a Snake Tracker App! If you have any ideas or suggestions on features, feel free to post them in the Development Thread! I'll also be posting updates on the development of this program in this thread!

I quit cold turkey after 30 years of 2 packs a day after I woke up on this past August 1st and couldn't catch my breath, I tried the E-cigs and they just didn't do it for me as I wanted the real thing so, I just don't do it at all now and I love the xtra cash in my pocket, my cigarette money is what buys me more snakes.

    Re: E-Cigarettes

I know 3 people who use the blucig and they really like it. 2 of 3 people have been able to not smoke while using it and didnt' seem like hardcore smokers. The 3rd is my mother and turns into a crackhead when she doesn't have coffee or a cigarette. She tried bartering/bribing me with food and beer to buy her cigarettes when she didn't have one for two weeks(long story I won't get into). I can only imagine what she'd be like if she was on hard drugs.

But I digress, the blucig seems like a good way to go if you aren't a crackhead smoker.
