roswell has a nice sized alien mark from the back of his head and it extends about 7-8 inches down his neck. it is a perfect shadow of an alien. that is why he got the name roswell. i was curious as to how a bp's paterns change over time? i was hoping this mark would always be there, and when he got bigger that the mark would stay the same shape and grow with him. do their markings grow with them, or do they change as they get older? what about their colors? does that change? i hope he keeps this mark, it is so cool.

Their colors obviously dull as time goes by in between sheds, but they only shed the outer layer of skin so its not like they grow new pigment each time they have a shed. I don't think that their patterns change much as they older. That would definitely be a problem for ball python morphs. If anything their colors just aren't as vibrant as adults as they are when they are younger. My 7 month old was yellow/orange when she was younger and seems to be becoming more golden brown instead of the "high gold" look, although she still has that golden yellow color on her back, just not so much on her sides anymore.

^ Agreed. I don't think the markings will change much, although coloration will. Vash has already lightened up from a deep chocolate to a light brown with more red undertones, I think she might be going into red phase. Whee!

red phase? roswell is very black and yellow, with some browns. his scales even reflect a blueish shine in the light. i hope his mark remains the same.

Awwwh! That's one of the most awesome snake-naming reasons I think I've ever heard.
Roo is actually Ruby, but it got shortened about 15 minutes after we got her.
