Where do you guys get bulk cypress?

Pretty straight forward question. my guys and gals are due for a full substrate change, and now is the first time ive had enough cages i want/need cypress in to actually need some in bulk. Ive seen it at Lowe's for like 5 bucks a big bag, but im not positive that its exactly what im looking for. Help?

Since the OP brought it up about "Bulk". I would also like to know where I can find Aspen Sani Chips in Bulk.

The stuff sold at Lowes/Home Depot for $5 is not pure cypress, I called the manufacturer and asked. It's about 10% cypress, 50% pine, and 40% "whatever we were cutting that week" which could include cedar and black walnut.

Reptile Basics sells it for $28 per 2 cu ft bag, shipped.

If you need "bulk" you can get SerpenTurf by the pallet (68 2 cu ft bags) from Kamlar, or order their 13-qt bags individually at http://www.kamlar.com/serpenturf100cypress.html

I've always been able to get shredded aspen for cheap at fleet farm, they sell it as horse bedding in the stores.

If there are farm stores near you (I'm thinking a TSC or something), I know they have bulk aspen. They *might* have other woods, but I too would worry about their quality, as bcr229 thoughtfully pointed out!

I think you might be better off with buying from a reputable reptile store, or online through the same.
But I hope you find what you're looking for

Re: Where do you guys get bulk cypress?

Just wanted to mention that we carry cypress, bark chips, sani chips, and shredded aspen in bulk as well as smaller bags (if you should happen to want to test different substrates). We calculate shipping on bulk bedding (as it's overweight for normal shipping costs) based on your location, so it'll vary for each customer.
