    Eating issues

I feed my guys live. Now this is in reference to my one BP. He would eat every and anything rat or mouse. Didn't matter.

i think I messed up. Quiet a few months ago,I fed him a rat,way to big,he sized it up for 20 mins but did strike and did win. Every since then he is nervous to strike at anything it seems. Now about a month ago,I fed him an appropriately sized rat,he struck quiet quick the rat broke free and then challenged him. Ever nce then he is hesitant to strike with anything I put in the tank. He is still eating normally and shedding perfectly. But I put a rat in he wants nothing to do with it,he is eating large mice but takes him like 10 mins to strike. But he is eating and eating regularly, just wants nothing to do with rats. I tried a rat again today, the thing was all hyper, running all around the tank after a few mins of it not moving and my snake going up to it and just not caring..I wanna get him back on rats, but this is looking nit possible.

any one have been through anything similar?

now my other guy, strikes mice immediately ,no hesitation, with me watching and all..I put a rat in,he won't go near it and if I'm looking he avoids it,smells it and all but he will avoid it,so what I have to do is walk away, put the lid back on and just leave it be and he will eat adventually, like he did today..I fell a sleep and woe up 3 hrs later to see a full belly. Btw,this was a rat pup and he's a 190 gram BP..so I'm not worried about the RAt pup doing any harm to him which is why I just leave it in there.

i know BPs are known to be picky. I'm just glad they are eating, idc if it's rats or mice, but prefer rats

this has nothing to do with husbandry..there eating and shedding great, hiding always and explore a few hours at night.

I wouldn't say they are eating great and say you have a problem feeding. Just doesn't make sense.

As long as they are eating I wouldn't complain though.

If you knew the rat was to large why did you try to feed it?

If it were me I would keep feeding whatever they will eat and every once in awhile try a rat that is the appropriate size.

I have a few snakes that take a good amount of time before they start eating. That's a perk of using f/t.

It makes plenty sense, they are eating great, there just being picky. They don't refuse meals ever. Either way,if I only chose to feed rat or mouse and they ate every time,I'd say they are eating great,I just want the to both get to taking both with no problems.

They are both eating great and ill say it again, they are eating great . My one guy just prefers mice and never turns down a mouse and or a rat, just takes longer to eat a rat,but always does,I just always stick with mice, cause he takes with no hesitation

as for my bigger guy, well it was the weeks end and feeding time and all they had left at the moment,I was rushing as I got out of work and looked at it and said it looked to big but didn't fully pay attention,so rushing screwed me up,but he still ate it.

my one guy wants not a single thing to do with FT,ivg tried way to many times, not bothering anymore.

my bigger guy always took anything FT or live, rat or mouse, just found with my wor schedule and life ,feeding live is easier and way quicker.

I tried today the appropriate sized rat,no success I'll try again tommorow,if same happens come tues or weds,I'll just get him a mouse again.

    thnx

When I have a trouble eater I only offer on feed days. Offering to often can actually compound the problem.
