Pricing Help. Please.
I am thinking about selling off about half of my BP collection to make room for some other projects. I have never sold any snakes so I'm not exactly up to date on pricing. I was wondering if some of you more experienced people could help me determine what a good starting price would be for the ones I want to sell. I'm not trying to get rich off of them, I would just like to get a fair amount of the money I paid for them back. I know that prices have dropped since I bought them 2 or 3 years ago. I would classify all of these snakes as being average examples of their morphs. I raised these slow not trying to over feed them because I was in no rush to breed them. All of the males have been locking up this year but only 1 is proven. I appreciate any help with this.Yellow Belly female - 1050 grams |

Bumblebee female - 1170 grams. Has a little head wobble if she gets excited |

Re: Pricing Help. Please.
Check the prices on kimgsmake.com and see what they are generally going for.

Check a few places. Kingsnake is good, but you need to be careful of people who just put low prices to try to manipulate things, or people who list extremely high and never sell. The prices listed are not necessarily the prices things are selling at.
Check Kingsnake. Check Fauna. Check a few of the larger breeders. Check some smaller breeders. After a little while you'll start to get a better idea of what pricing you should be looking at.

Re: Pricing Help. Please.
I can only tell you what I would be willing to pay. Your girls/guys are going to be worth probably close to what you paid for them since most of them are very close to breeding weight. I'm pretty sure most of my estimates are close to what you'll find on Kingsnake, but if you're really not looking to make too much of a profit I'd contact one of the big sellers (they advertise on Kingsnake and Fauna all the time looking to buy hatchlings and other snakes in bulk) and see if they'll buy them all. Pretty sure they will, and maybe you can simply trade for other reptiles you want. Anyways, here are my estimates.
Yellow Belly female - 1050 grams ($400-500) |
|
Mojave female - 1100 grams. She is a picky eater. ($450-600) |
|
Pastel female - 1280 grams ($400-500) |
|
Bumblebee female - 1170 grams. Has a little head wobble if she gets excited ($500-600) |
|
Normal female - 1410 grams. Proven breeder ($150-200) |
|
Pinstripe male -1100 grams ($300-400) |
|
Butter male - 1170 grams. Proven breeder. ($400-500) |
|
Fire male - 870 grams. ($400-500) |
|
Pastel male - 1060 grams. Possible super ($400-500)

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I've spent the better part of the last 3 hours checking prices (kingsnake. fauna, and various breeders sites). Prices are all over the place. I don't know if I should go low or high . I'm glad that I am not in this hobby for the money side of things. I don't have any reputation to speak of in the reptile community. So I know it will be hard for me to sell/trade them. I don't want to be one of the people that everyone trashes for selling to low. But I would like to sell/trade them to make some room for other things. Here's what I was thinking and hopefully ya'll will let me know what you think (to high, to low, etc.). All of these prices are somewhere in between what I found. I found some that were a lot higher and some that were a bit lower. Opinions are appreciated. Yellow Belly female - 1050 grams. $350 |
Mojave female - 1100 grams. She is a picky eater. $350 because of her eating habits. |
Pastel female - 1280 grams $300 |
Bumblebee female - 1170 grams. Has a little head wobble if she gets excited. $500 |
Normal female - 1410 grams. Proven breeder. $100 |
Pinstripe male -1100 grams $150 |
Butter male - 1170 grams. Proven breeder. $200 |
Fire male - 870 grams. $175 |
Pastel male - 1060 grams. Possible super. My girlfriend wants to keep him / Not for Sale |

Re: Pricing Help. Please.
I think your prices are pretty good. You may want to put the year on the girls as well as the weight so people can determine just how long after a QT that they may breed. Being some girls grow faster than others and most breeders wont start pairing their girls till 18mos or their 2nd winter.
Good luck to you!

Thank you Zombie. All of these are 2011 or older so with a little weight they should be good. I will be sure to post their years of birth when I post them. I appreciate the heads up on that I hadn't though about that.
