    Locking Rack?

Is there a way to make a locking rack? I have a little girl due in two months and due to only needing two drawers it's going to be pretty close to the ground.

I was thinking about drilling a hole into the top and bottom of the rack and into an appropriate-sized 2x4 then just throwing a bolt in it. That way I can just loosen the bolt, pull the board off and do what I need to do, all the while keeping my daughter safe.

    Ideas/suggestions, please!

I would be more concerned with keeping the snakes safe from a small child. LoL

You can drill a hole just like you are wanting to do so that the bolt catches the top of the tub below it.
You could also keep then in a "no kid" room and keep the door closed.

We live in an apartment that has a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom, so we are fresh out of "no-kid" rooms. I'll probably end up bolting it if not just dismantling my aquarium and building two cages with glass-fronts from the long sides of my tank.. I've got some time to worry about it, they will be in locking bins for a bit before I get a nice enclosure or the rack for the bins built.

You could put the rack/tubs on top of a table and store things under the table. That will maximize your square footage too.

For locking them, drill holes in each shelf and you should be able to find some kind of pins/bolts with a hole on the end one end. Put the bolt through the hole and put a little master lock on the other side to hold it firm - the lock will block the tub below/above from sliding out.
