    Question about shedding

    Hi all!

Sorry that everyone of my posts is usually a noob question, but well, I am a noob.

Anyways, I was wondering, is there a general length of time that it takes a snake to shed its skin? Super Hypo's eyes very much "blued". Basically I'm wondering if there is a general time frame until I see her start rubbing/shedding or if shedding just varies from snake to snake? or shed to shed..

    Thanks!

Great question actually. There is not an answer that is gospel however, I have found after my boa goes blue, its about 5 days until the shed. The actual FULL process takes quite a bit of time and sometimes we don't realize the changes immediately. The blue phase is in the middle of it all.

You will notice the snake will clear up a day or 2 prior to the shed and then, boom!! New bright colors!

Keep a log of when you notice the blue eyes and then when the shed happens. Have fun!

    Re: Question about shedding

X2 - Every snake is different. I have a couple Rainbow boa's that take up to 5 or 6 days after blue to shed. My ball python's run anywhere from a couple days to 3 - 4.

I have an excel worksheet on each of mine. I log when they go blue, when they shed, and if it was one piece or not. It's interesting to look back and see how they have done.

    Re: Question about shedding

I have noticed that my boas shed process is longer than my balls. Like, after the balls eyes clear up, it's within a day or two. My boas seem to be a bit longer.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
