F/t Hopper Feeding took mouse but found it laying on him a few hours later

I've now had my Super Russo for 9 days. He is young about 123g. He was eating live when we got him but we were able to feed him f/t the first sunday we had him. Now the second time to feed him and he wasn't interested the first time then an hour later I tried and he took the mouse. YAY! but I just went to check on him and the mouse is laying on his back. He looks as if he is going into shed soon as well because his eyes are milky. Any advice? Did he not eat because he is going into shed or is he not having the f/t? this was my first time feeding him and I was so happy he took the mouse but now I'm sad. thanks!

It could be because its going into shed. That is a snake to snake thing, some eat and some don't.

Offering food twice is just going to stress him out. It he refuses don't offer again that night. I personally don't offer food again after a refusal until the next scheduled feeding day.

I also do not offer during a shed. Some keepers do and some don't. Its a personal preference but in my experience I have had food refused more than taken during a shed. I would rather not waste a f/t and just wait until I know it will be eaten.

^This. Don't offer food more than once in a short period of time. Wait until the next feeding day and hopefuly he will be out of shed.

Mine eat while in shed, but some don't. If he doesn't eat the first time don't give it again til next feeding day. Make sure you have the prey warm enough.
