What should I add to my small collection

I currently have 1 male pastel het pied, 1 female het pied, and 1 female spider. Looking to add a couple more to my group. Based on what I currently have what would be some good additions. Looking down the road as well.

Just curious what others think. Have a Merry Christmas!

I would add a morph female het pied that complements the male if money will allow. If not, I would get a female that complements pastel. My top choices would be: yellowbelly, fire, pinstripe, black pastel, or mojave. All of the above look GREAT as pieds as well.

Re: What should I add to my small collection

My females are just over a year so have some time before they will be ready. As far as budget goes, can't spend thousands but 6-7 hundred would be acceptable. I was thinking about a pin. I am liking the spinner blasts. I am really in to clowns also but from what I seen price wise would need to work up into them with maybe one visual and produce my own heats to breed back to.

In that case I would be on the search for a pin het pied female. Do I smell lemon blast pieds?

Edit: FYI Just noticed a pin het pied on kingsnake for $500.

What about a visual pied male? You're going to get to your goals a lot faster with a 50/50 shot instead of 1/4 shot.

Thank you for letting me know about the add on kingsnake, that is one place I don't frequent a lot.

so you have a male het pied and a female het pied and a spider female.

breeding visual to het is better than breeding het to het, but what would be better, a male pied or a female pied? i would get a female pied, and then breed the male pastel het pied to the pied and the het pied females. once you hit a male pastel pied, you can retire the male pastel het pied. if you have visual pieds, het pieds with extra genes are good way to add more genes into your pied projects, but as long as you do not have visual pieds, i would prioritize a visual. and a male pied would not be much of a boost, its still just one female het pied, still only one clutch, and you wont use the male pastel het pied at all, not even temporarily to get your pastel pieds.

now what to do with the female spider? the male pastel het pied doesnt seem to be a good match. the "het pied" is not really of value in this breeding unless you get a spider with strong het pied markers. and just male pastel to female spider is not that appealing.

so my shopping list sorted by priority would be:
    - female pied, boosting the pied project, and driving up your odds to hit a male visual pied that also is pastel. once you hit your male pied, you can look for female het pieds with extra genes to keep advancing the project.
    - some two-gene male that works well with spider. this depends a lot on personal preference, maybe a firefly or pewter. gives you different two-gene combos, and chances to hit a triple gene.
    - one more single codominant/dominant female that works together with the two-gene male you got for your spider.

if you go from 3 to 6 BPs with these 3 additions, your pied project can really take off and in the codominant/dominant recombination game there will also be some really nice stuff going on. if all 6 breed, you get two clutches that are 25% or 50% pied with chances for pastel pied, and two clutches with dominant/codominant stuff which will contain nice two-gene combos and can contain triple gene combos. also there will be lots of potential to take it to the next level with holdbacks you produce, advancing to more male and female visual pieds, and double gene females, and maybe a triple gene male or female. if all goes well, you can later breed a visual pastel pied to a triple gene non pied to make your own het pieds that are loaded with extra genes.
