Thoughts on Repti Bark?
I have an 8 month old Ball Python that I've been keeping on a mixture of Repti Bark and cypress mulch for a while now. The other day I was evening out his substrate and I noticed the Repti Bark gave me a few splinters. Is it possible that it could give my Ball Python splinters, even though I haven't had a problem with it before? Thoughts/answers will be much appreciated!

I used repti-bark for about year with no problem.. I know use aspen bedding since its cheaper and easier to deal with.
And to answer your question I don't think it will give your snake splitters.

I ued Repti Bark for about two years until my collection grew, then I switched to aspen. It never caused my BP problems and sometimes he would accidentally ingest small pieces while feeding.

I used to use it and didn't have many problems with it, even though I've had a BP of mine take a mouthful of it in along with a saliva-coated rat. Then I switched on to aspen before finally settling with cypress since cypress holds the humidity best and my BPs just love to burrow in the stuff.

When I used it, I found it really difficult to hold humidity and my bp often got splinters and/or chipped belly scales. I even tried mixing EcoEarth with the ReptiBark and he still got splinters and chipped scales. I use EcoEarth by itself now. It could have been the size of the chips, though, I'm not sure. I've been using EcoEarth with no problems.
