    Ball python enclosure

    Is a L28 x D24 x H12 sized tank alright for a full grown male ball python.?
As of now my little guy is only six months old so it isn’t an necessity to move him to a bigger tank than my 10 gallon. Having said that I do plan on doing so within the next six month or so.

Alright so I know a typical size is a thirty gallon breeder. The dimensions for that are 36 x 18 x 12, so in reference to floor space, its 4.5000 square feet for the breeder and 4.6667 for the other. Given this obviously floor space is not the issue, but in consideration to the amount of length needed is this an issue. I don’t know if BP’s need more length than they do floor space.

As an additional note, I plan on getting a male eastern king snake which needs around the same requirements, and the cage I am looking at can be stacked with an new identical cage to save room. Will this be okay for the new guy eventually also.

Finally any suggestions on good BP snake enclosure websites. I want to move away from an aquarium.

That size cage will do fine for an adult. The general rule is 1 square foot of floorspace per foot of BP. As for length vs width, it really doesn't matter as long as the ratio is reasonable. (obviously a 1" x 576" cage wouldn't work)

I use cages made by animal plastics. Their T8 (48" x 24" x 12" L x W x H) is a great cage at a good price. T8's can be divided with an optional divider and AP will customize their products to your exact needs.

    Here is their website:

Here is a thread I wrote about their cages: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...With-Pictures!

    This is a picture of a divided T8 (top), a T12 (48" x 24" x 24"), and the 8" stand sold by AP:
