I notice what looks like crust/scab around his bottom jaw. I thought it was the mulch at first, but took a pic and up close..that's not it. Today his spit some milky mucus.. not at all sure what this.. I have him about 1 1/2 months.. You all helped with heat, humidity, UTH/Thermostat.. he ate last on 11/28... offered food yesterday F/T.. wasn't interested.

Any ideas on what's going on? Not sure how to add a pic via URL...

The mucus is a sign of a respiratory infection...a trip to the vet may be in order...

I'm no vet, but it sounds like mouth rot, possibly a respiratory infection as well. I'd say a vet visit is in order.

There are a lot of answers to that question. It could be something as minor as a little scratch in the mouth. That could become infected by the bacteria responsible for the RI (or vice versa, the RI could be caused by the mouth bacteria being aspirated). Inclusion Body Disease can cause these same symptoms. Mouth rot can also be caused by stress weakening the immune system. An infection of a tiny scratch, coupled with stress and unhygienic conditions can get ugly. It can also be caused by the same set of issues that lead to scale rot/belly rot.

Just to make it perfectly clear, I don't mean to imply in ANY way that your pet's living conditions are unsanitary or anything. You've only had Walter for a month and a half, so it's entirely possible his previous habitat was less than perfect.

Either way, a spotless cage, perfect temp/humidity, simple substrate, and a vet trip should get you in the right direction.
