I feel sad too when I see lots of skinny little babies. On a side note I've yet to see a pastel at my local pet stores.

That one was $125. If I didn't still have Christmas presents to buy, I would've taken it home. It was sad seeing them all "standing" huddled in the corner. Not a single hide in there, just a dried up water dish & the plant.

Re: :(
Here is the email that I sent:
Hi,
I was hoping that this message would go directly to your Rice Lake, WI store, but here it goes anyway.
I went to the Rice Lake store, tonight, to get a feeder rat for my Ball Python. I decided to take a peek at the pythons that they had on display there. What I saw was horrible, as far as keeping BPs goes.
There were 3 of them in the them in the tank. They were all "standing" in the corner, as if they were trying to get out, all curling around each other. There was not one single "hide" in there for them, just a dried up water dish & a fake plant. Do your employees know that BPs spend 90% of their time in their hides? That is where they feel the safest. Those poor snakes were probably extremely stressed out. Do they have "under tank heaters"?
Not only were there no hides in the tank to offer them a refuge, they were EXTREMELY underweight. Hatchlings, fresh out of the egg, are bigger than those poor snakes were. What are they being fed? Most newborns can eat rat pups, so the ones on display there, should be eating much larger. Although, right now they probably can't because they are so malnurished.
As a pet store/supplier, I would expect that the employees would make themselves knowledgeable about the animals that they are selling.
I took pictures of the poor things & the poor treatment they were receiving, and if I don't get an acceptable response from you & see that something has been done to rectify the situation, I will take the next step & contact the local news station.
Ball pythons are VERY easy animals to care for, so it shouldn't be too much to ask. I really hope that when I go back next week, I see a hide for each snake. If there are 3 snakes in there, there should be 3 hides. Just big enough for them to crawl into.
There is an amazing forum that I belong to that you might check out. You can use it to learn & instruct your employees on how to properly care for these sweethearts. The web address is: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/forum.php
Thank you so much for your time,
Jennifer
