    Philodryas Viridissimus

A rear fanged snake from South America - the Viridissimus and closely related Olfersii are reputed to pack a punch, but I've been hit a few times and can't say that reputation is deserved. Hard to see in these pictures, but the males have a neat blue chin. A great display snake for an arboreal setup. These are pics of Kermit, one of our yearling males. Locale of this group is Suriname.

The blue on the face can be seen in this poor pic.

Very cool. A good friend of mine that's big into South American colubrids had a small group of them a few years ago. They were very nice in person. Sadly he didn't have much luck with his and ended up loosing the 3. They were wc and in poor shape when he got them though. Yours look nice and healthy though. How long have you had them?

I got the original pair about 6 years ago. I have never had a species of snake that seems so perpetually hungry as these guys.

He looks amazing! The color really pops. And the second photo is really cute and mysterious.

    Are they flighty?
    How large to they get?

They are pissy and they like to bite and bite and bite.

Large males get about 4' long, but the average is between 38" and 44".

Great looking snakes, would you share some pics of their setup?. I hope one day to get my hands on some Philodryas, specifically patagoniensis if I can ever find them. Thank you for sharing.
