    Good size?

What is a good size for a 1 year old female normal. I know it depends on the animal but just curious to see what size people have. Also what is good to feed her and how often. She is about 320 grams, is that small?

My girl has been on small rat weanlings since I got her at 200g if that helps, she takes them with no issue whatsoever

I also feed her once a week but many people do every 5 days until over 500g.

Here the scale goes: Rats; pinks, pups, fluffs, small weanling, large weanling, small rat, medium rat etc etc

My 174g girl is on a rat fluff every 5 days and my 263g girl is on a small weanling when she feels like eating but is offered every week.

Our fuzzies/fluffs are the size down from weanlings. Not sure in comparison to mice as I don't have a feeder mouse of a comparable size.

At 320g it should be eating rat pups or adult (big) mice. Mine at 9 months has 380g and is eating 30-35g rat pups on a weekly basis

There's a guideline to feeding. Pray shouldn't be wider than the widest part of the snake and preys weight should be around 10-15% of snakes weight.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. mine had a diet of a little chick also, since there were 2 weeks i couldn't get any mice or rat for him. Haven't had problem. He took the chick almost instantly.

Haha, a little poultry never hurts in one's diet.

    Re: Good size?

My BPs are on rats that moment I get em. Honestly, I try not to go with age as a measure of what they should be eating as the BPs vary so much in size as well as their affinity to eat different size prey. I typically stick to the feeding of prey that is 15-20% the size of the snake, but even that varies. For example, I fed 2 of my BPs Sunday - one is a 300g male the other a 750g female, they're almost the same age (female is a couple months older than the male). That said, they eat the same size prey (rats in the 70-80 gram range). The bigger female won't even look at prey that is 20% her size, the male devours smaller prey. So, I guess to sum it up, my advice is typically to use weight as your benchmark and adjust to your snake's preference.
