Snakes on a plane!
Hey guys, I was just wondering if you knew of any laws regarding bringing snakes along with you in carry on baggage. Im flying from northern california to southern california and I want to bring my carpet python with me because no one will be able to care for it in the mean while. Ill also be flying to utah for winter and would like to bring her along as well in carry on luggage. I know that shipping the snake overnight is an option, but it just costs too much and it would be really convenient to be able to buy several heat packs and throw her into a pillow case within a safe place in carry on luggage. Anybody ever try? Thanks in advance guys!

I would see if there's a vet office who will board your snake while you're gone, or see if a friend would watch her (or a pet sitter?). I could only imagine the backlash to the hobby if somehow they found out you smuggled a snake in your luggage....not something I'd risk.

Agreed, most vets in my area do have boarding, you could look into that.
For Utah... I would ship it over night

Re: Snakes on a plane!
Planes don't allow you to carry on reptiles. And Delta Dash is the only airline service that will transport reptiles, but it will be cheaper and easier to ship via FedEx.
How long will you be away? Where in NorCal are you?

Re: Snakes on a plane!
Go to East Bay Vivarium and ask if you could board your snake. They're in Berkeley. And if they can't, I'm sure they know of a place that can.
