Interested in getting a Blue Tongue Skink

    Hello.
A local breeder is selling a skink for 50 USD. I've held the animal before and he seems healthy, as far as I can tell. I've been considering getting a skink for a while now and the price is a tempting one.
However, I don't know too much about skinks. Especially with housing and feeding. We have a place to put him, where it formally held some bearded dragons a few years ago. It has two levels, the second being a nice sunning platform. I've read that you can feed it dog food and vegetables, but does anybody recommend any dry brands?
    Thank you.

How big is the enclosure? I have been researching them for quite some time and finally took the plunge into one and couldn't be happier. What type of BTS is it? Some people do feed dog and cat food however I don't like it, as it wasn't made for them, also it is wet food not dry. I make my own blend of food.

There are a lot of in depth care sheets online as well as a 4 page listing of foods that are safe/good for them. Depeding on what species of BTS it is will determine humidity levels. For example mine is an IJ so he requires more humidity than say a northern.
